This is where you can find all the detailed writeups for all my artwork, as well as the occassional random post.

Pet Portrait: Jack the Cat

I have a confession to make. I had absolutely no idea how many cat breeds there are. They were always just lumped into one group for me, with the occasional calico, siamese, and whatever that furless cat is called. But I decided to look into it to see what type of cat Jack probably is and my goodness. Oh. Ver. Whelmed. So yeah, I'm just sticking with "Jack the Cat" until someone tells me otherwise.

Original Photo: I went ahead and lightened the photo a little bit since Jack is backlit, which gave me a little more variation in tone in the darker spots.

Progress Pics: In my previous writeup I mentioned how surprised I was that I was able to keep track of everything I do during my drawings (recording time spent, taking progress pictures, and now recording video in time-lapse form). So of course this time I forgot to do one of those... Oops.

Timelapse Video: At 4x speed. I'm not gonna lie, I picked the song I did for this video because it made me think of Yzma's cat voice in The Emperor's New Groove.

Time Spent: 18 hours and 20 minutes

Up Next: The last portrait from this commission of three is another cat, which will most likely be posted tomorrow. So I will again say sorry for not knowing anything about cat breeds!

Until next time! Lauren H.
